Lite 4.0.3 doesn't install a Java plugin for its browser: $ rpm -qa '*java*' fonts-ttf-java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.03-alt1 java-common-1.3.6-alt4 java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0.03-alt1 $ rpm -qa '*jre*' $ But Java applets are quite popular and useful. It's even more a pity because there are free working Java runtimes available (unlike, say, Flash, which is also popular; on some sites, Java applets may be an alternative to Flash, but Lite users are still unable to play them). Example: in Lite 4.0.3, I can't watch http://www.gnu.org/fry/ , although they have provided a free Java applet ("Cortado") to play the video for those who don't have a special player installed -- http://www.fsf.org/blogs/community/OggOnTheRise .
